I grew up in Auckland and studied law at Auckland University. During my degree I took some time out to travel during which time I lived in the UK and Ireland. I spent a lot of time in the countryside working with horses, on a stud farm and as polo groom. Back home I graduated with my LLB and was admitted to the bar in 1996.

I practised in general civil litigation for three years before taking up commercial law and have since concentrated on trusts, property and general commercial work. The best thing about being a commercial lawyer is that I get to be involved in so many different and exciting businesses with inventors, entrepreneurs and creatives. It keeps me inspired.

Like Rico, I have worked in country practices where it's all hands to the pump. You learn to adapt, this has given us both a background in many facets of the law other than the ones we now focus on.

At Metro Law we want to be the legal contact point. We can provide clients with sound advice and recommend them to the best people in areas outside of our expertise. We will help them through the process and make it less stressful.

We started Metro Law to get away from traditional stuffy law firm practices. We are proactive, not rigid and we create every opportunity to do the things we want to do in the ways we think best.

We may be a metro firm representing a metropolitan city but I'm passionate about fly-fishing, diving and polo and I have been known to do the odd stint at Boxing Alley. I love good food, wine and art and I am a keen aficionado of New Zealand indie music.
